REFIT recently attended the ACEEE Summer Study on Energy Efficiency in Buildings conference. This event, organised by the Americal Council for an Energy Efficient Economy, is run ever two years at the Asilomar conference centre in Monterey, USA. See http://www.aceee.org/conferences/2012/ssb for full details of the conference.
Of particular interest was panel 7 ‘Building Efficiency, Human Behavior, and Social Dynamics’ led by David Lehrer at the Centre for the Built Environment, UC Berkeley. The papers ranged from meta-studies of feedback techniques to reduce energy demand, individual utility-led Smart Meter trials, the use of games to reduce energy use and the user acceptance of Smart Homes and demand response.
All the papers from the conference are available here: http://www.aceee.org/files/proceedings/2012/start.htm
